So I just got back from taking the girl to see the documentary on Girl Rock Camp. What a great thing for girls to take part in. It opened last weekend but she was with her grandparents. That’s when it dawned on me that tonight would be the only night to see it before it went out. So I’ll be printing out the registration form tomorrow and getting it mailed out.

So onto the title of this post, it’s already the 7th of May and the yard work’s piling up and I’m needing to get onto some freelance work. I’m putting in the hours to catch up from a crappy beginning to the year work wise.

The beginning of this year started pretty well with a good deal of work then began slowing near the end of January and by the end of February things were pretty dire. I had already been applying for jobs and talking with head hunters. I did some interviews and accepted a job with a web development company as lead creative on a start up client in Canada. The job’s been good so far, working pretty hard but keeping it with regular hours. The great thing is they wanted me to recommend a freelancer to help me with the job so I’m getting to work with my friend Kiki. She well organized and a solid designer, plus we commute a together a couple of times a week.

I’m also teaching at the Creative Circus again this quarter. I have a couple of type 3 classes in the evening and an afternoon class teaching digital media.

For the past couple of days it’s been in the 70s and it’s looking like it’s going to be like this for the a few more days. So it was a good weekend to do some serious house cleaning. We completely moved everything in the living room around to clean every nook and cranny. The girl went to stay the night with her grandparents.

Sunday was spent hauling all the boxes that have been in the dining room to Holly’s office to get out of the way until we can go thru them and sort them all. I also finished moving the rest of my home office out to the downtown office. When that was done, I took my old office desk to the Salvation Army. So then we did huge cleaning on dining room. It’s now cleaned and is where we’re going to put the holiday tree this week. This weekend looks like we’ll be tackling the kitchen and bathroom.

On another note, classes ended today but I’m not quite out of the woods yet. I had 3 students not quite finished with their project. So they’re supposed to have them finished and show to me next week when I go to do panel. Failing that, they’ll fail.

So that’s it from Grant Park. Just working on a couple of projects and trying to get some stuff approved so I can move on with the project.
